QCP participants rewarded with barbecue

Members of the Jamaica Rotary Club and police officers from the 102nd, 103rd and 113th Precincts sponsored a barbecue for Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) program participants at the Bellerose campus. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served and everyone present was treated to T-shirts, face painting, a magic show and a live DJ. New York’s Finest proved that their talents go beyond protecting and serving the community with members of the force singing, dancing and getting the crowd up on their feet.

QCP presented Jamaica Rotary President Joseph Iaboni and Patrol Borough Queens South’s Assistant Chief James Secreto with gifts and plaques for their ongoing kindness in organizing the event. Deputy Chief Michael Blake of the NYPD Counterterrorism Division surprised his friends at QCP by showing up and joining in on the festivities. The Rotary Club and the NYPD support QCP in many ways and are steadfast in their commitment to help improve the quality of life for the developmentally disabled population that Queens Centers for Progress serves.

QCP provides services to children and adults in Queens County who have developmental disabilities. The purpose of these services is to maximize the range and quality of independent life choices available to the individuals and their families.
