Seek Fitness is the place to get fit in Astoria

If you’re looking to drop those last few pounds this summer or just want to feel healthier and better about yourself, then Seek Fitness is the place for you.
The Astoria gym, which opened back in September 2010, is located at 27-18 23rd Avenue and is an innovative, new type of gym owned and operated by Raymond Grijalvo.
Grijalvo, along with his trainers Marsha Garcia and David Weisblatt offer three different fitness classes – Zumba, Boot Camp and Fusion – because they wanted to create a fun, yet intense workout environment for their clients.
“Zumba is the hottest thing out there right now,” Grijalvo said. He added that the Boot Camp and Fusion classes offer more cardio, kick boxing and strength training exercises.
In less than one year, Seek Fitness has over 80 members, but Ray says that many more people use the gym without a contract. And he believes that Seek Fitness is for everyone, saying that his clients range from age 15 to 67.
The gym is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, with both early morning and late night classes being offered, making it accessible to people with a busy work schedule.
One session costs $15 and lasts 50 minutes. Seek Fitness also offers a trial package of six sessions for $30. An unlimited monthly membership is $149 with a contract or $199 without a contract. These packages include access to any trainer, measurements, as well as instruction on the right workout program.
Seek Fitness offers all of these options because, as Grijalvo put it, “we want to make sure you enjoy your experience.”
And Grijalvo is confident that you won’t find a workout environment with a family atmosphere quite like this at any other gym in the area, giving his training staff so much of the credit.
“I couldn’t do any of this without their help,” he said of Garcia and Weisblatt.
