School supply drive
RIDGEWOOD/GLENDALE — Assemblymember Mike Miller and The Legacy Center have partnered up to hold a backpack and school supply drive. The drive, entitled “Supply the Future,” will be held to benefit schools in Ridgewood and Glendale just in time for the new school year.
“I wanted to work with the Legacy Center because of their mission to empower at-risk youth by supporting students whose families may not be able to afford supplies,” Miller said. “I have worked with the Legacy Center firsthand and look forward to working with them with this project.”
The Legacy Center will distribute backpacks full of necessary supplies to over 5,500 children in need. The program is sponsored by JetBlue Airways, American Airlines and Staples.
The backpacks will be distributed on September 8 with school staff, the Legacy Center volunteers, and Miller working together to get the backpacks to students in every school.
Drop-off sites for the supplies are the Legacy Center, located at 61-13 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale; Christ Tabernacle located at 64-34 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale; and Miller’s office, located at 83-91 Woodhaven Boulevard in Woodhaven.
For any questions, contact Miller’s office at 718-805-0950 or David Portolatin of The Legacy Center at 347-292-4852.
