Bravest Honored for Answering the Call of Duty

Local firefighters who responded to a deadly two-alarm blaze at a Woodside home last November were honored by the New York City Council during their stated meeting at City Hall last Wednesday, Jan. 18. As noted, City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer (at right) along with City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley, chair of the Fire and Criminal Justice Committee, presented a proclamation to the members of Rescue 4 and Engine Co. 292 in Woodside along with Battalion 46 and Ladder Co. 136 in Elmhurst. The companies were among the FDNY units that responded to the two-alarm inferno that consumed a home on 61st Street on Nov. 18, killing one man and leaving several families homeless.
