Students Talk Graffiti Removal with Pol

Students at the High School for Applied Communications (HSAC) in Long Island City got a chance to quiz City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer regarding his office’s graffiti cleanup initiative during his visit to the school last Tuesday, Jan. 10. As noted, the cleanup program has led to the removal of graffiti from over 1,000 locations around Van Bramer’s district. The interview as conducted as part of a joint media arts education project between the school and Magic Box Productions to have students research, write, shoot and edit their own documentary titled “Writing on the Wall.” The finished film will be screened at HSAC and other Long Island City venues this spring.
