Cyclist Killed In Sunnyside

Fatally Struck By Livery Car

A cyclist traveling along Greenpoint Avenue in Sunnyside was fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle last Wednesday, Apr. 4, police sources reported.

The victim, a Hispanic male in his 30s who is unidentified at this time, was biking southbound on Greenpoint Avenue at about 5:22 a.m. when, according to police sources, a gray 2007 Toyota Camry livery cab traveling eastbound on Borden Avenue struck the rider.

NYPD and EMS units responded to the intersection of Borden and Greenpoint avenues and transported the cyclist to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

There is no criminality suspected at this time, police stated, and the investigation is ongoing.
