The driver of a sedan was seriously injured in a collision with a truck at an East Williamsburg intersection early last Saturday morning, July 14, Fire Department sources said. Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 5:45 a.m. at the corner of Maspeth and Vandervoort avenues. Members of Engine Co. 206, Ladder Co. 146, Squad Co. 252, Rescue 2, Battalion 35, the 94th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Using the Hurst tool-commonly known as the “jaws of life”-firefighters freed the injured driver from the damaged car. He was rushed by paramedics to a local hospital in serious condition. The truck driver was not injured, FDNY sources said.
