HERBERT NICK, a 36-year resident of Syosset, L.I., died peacefuly
at his home on Monday, August 6, at
the age of 72, surrounded by his
loved ones. A native of the former
Yugoslavia, he emigrated to the
United States in 1953 and lived in
Ridgewood until 1976. He served his
country during the Korean War. Since
retiring from Pitney Bowes, he had
been employed by Covenant House
for the last 15 years. Nick was the
beloved husband of Barbara, devoted
father of Theresa Nick Breskin and
Kathleen McNeill, father-in-law of
Greg Breskin and Michael McNeill,
and loving grandfather of Julia, Caroline, Nicklas, Noah and Larisa. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held
on Friday, August 10, at 9:45 a.m. at
St. Edward the Confessor Church,
Syosset, followed by interment at
Calverton National Cemetery,
Calverton, L.I., under the direction of
Beney Funeral Home, 79 Berry Hill
Rd., Syosset.

MICHAEL G. TERRONE of
Brooklyn died on Monday, July 30,
at the age of 51. A native of Brooklyn, he was the devoted father of
Christopher Terrone-LaFaye and dear
brother of Joseph Terrone and Ross
Terrone. A Mass of Christian Burial

Brooklyn, followed by interment at
Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn,

AUGUSTUS J. RAGUSO died on
Friday, August 3, at the age of 83. He
was the beloved father of Santino
Ragusa, Edward Ragusa, Christine
Odonirik, Maryanne Ragusa, Joseph
Ragusa and Lorraine Trigo, cherished grandfather of Daniela,
Michelle, Edward, Lauren, Michael,
Jake and Bernadette and loving
brother of Angelina, Nina, Josephine,
Patricia and Sandra. He was a U.S.
Army veteran who served during
World War II. A Mass of Christian
Burial was offered on Monday, August 6, at Our Lady of Hope Church,
Middle Village, followed by cremation at Fresh Pond Crematory, Middle Village, under the direction of
Papavero Funeral Home, 72-27

MIROSLAW MAKSIM died on
Wednesday, August 1, at the age of
40. He was the beloved son of
Stanislaw and Irena Maksim, loving
brother of Adam Maksim, Wieslaw
Maksim and Halina Pietrzycka,
brother-in-law of Joanna and
Krzysztof and cherished uncle of
Michael, Eva, Katherine and Carolyne. A Mass of Christian Burial

SYLVIA VENEZIA died on Saturday, July 28, at the age of 98. She
was the wife of the late Charles
Venezia, loving mother of Marie
Ardito, Marjorie Croce and Charles
Venezia, mother-in-law of Dominick,
cherished grandmother of Anthony,
Christina and Cynthia and greatgrandmother of Brandon, Kristen,

EUGENE COIZZA died on Saturday, July 28, at the age of 70. He was
the beloved husband of Patricia
Coizza, loving father of Eugene
Coizza and Joseph Coizza, father-inlaw of Lisa and Barbara, cherished
son of Michelina Coizza and the late
Joseph Coizza and dear brother of
Josephine Strong and Antoinette
Galletto. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who
served during the Vietnam War. A

MARTHA A. LEON died on Thursday, July 19, at the age of 92. She
was the wife of the late Tony Leon
and loving sister of Michael D’Elia
and the late Frank D’Elia, Vincent
D’Elia, Agnes Colabufo, James
D’Elia, Peter D’Elia, Margie Coppola and William D’Elia. She was
also a cherished aunt to many nieces,
nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial

the age of 93. A native of Gottschee,
Slovenia, she was the wife of the late

Verderber and Maria Verderber-

HENRY WITTMANN of Glendale
died on Tuesday, July 31, at the age
of 73. A native of Crvenka, Yugoslavia, he moved to Ridgewood in
1950 and later opened Wittmann TV
Repair Shop on Fresh pond Road. He
was the husband of the late Elisabeth, devoted father of Sandra Leicken and Christian Wittmann, dear
father-in-law of David Leicken and
Marcela Wittmann and cherished
grandfather of Connor Leicken, Will
Leicken and Ethan Wittmann. Services were offered at Emmaus Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Ridgewood, by Rev. John Stoudt,
followed by interment at Linden Hill
Cemetery, Ridgewood, under the direction of Morton Funeral
