Death In Ridgewood Under Investigation
Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a 43-year-old man identified as off-duty police officer who was found shot in the head on a Ridgewood street on Tuesday morning, Aug. 21.
The name and assignment of the officer were not disclosed by police.
Members of the 104th Precinct found the fatally-wounded officer inside a Hyundai Santa Fe sports utility vehicle parked on Starr Street between Woodward and Metropolitan avenues at around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
