The Queens Botanical Garden in Flushing held a press conference on Wednesday, Sept 5 to announce a concert in the garden at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 as part of the Locating the Sacred Festival, a 25-event, 12-day event organized by the Asian American Arts Alliance. Pictured from left are Asian American Arts Alliance Program Director Nick Daswani, Karen Ann Elizabeth Kriegel of the World Dance Initiative, Grace Kang of The Korean Traditional Music & Dance Institute of NY, kayagum (Korean zither) player Yoon Soon Park, kora (African harp-lute) player Alhaji Papa Susso, classical Indian dancer Mala Desai, sitar player Ikhlaq Hussain, QBG Executive Director Susan Lacerte and Joseph Bea of Astoria Federal Savings’ Flushing branch. Park, Susso, Desai and Hussain will all perform on Saturday.
