Maspeth Woman Dies In Woodside

The life of a Maspeth woman was cut short last Tuesday night, Mar. 28, when she was fatally struck by a speeding vehicle while attempting to cross a busy roadway in Woodside, law enforcement sources said.

Police identified the victim as 22- year-old Juliana Busto of 46th Street.

Reportedly, the accident occurred at around 11:16 p.m. last Tuesday at the corner of Laurel Hill Boulevard and 47th Street, adjacent to the elevated Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

According to information obtained by police, Busto-who lived a few blocks away-was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Laurel Hill Boulevard within the painted crosswalk.

As she did so, authorities said, she was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche SUV traveling westbound on the boulevard. Police noted the unidentified operator of the vehicle stopped and remained at the location.

Members of the 108th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Busto was rushed by paramedics to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

No charges were reportedly filed against the driver at the scene. The NYPD Accident Investigation Squad is continuing its inquiry into the accident, police said.
