HGTV is coming to LIC Flea this weekend.

“Flea Market Flip,” which airs Fridays at 9 p.m. on HGTV, will be making its way to the LIC Flea and International Food Bazaar on Sunday, July 21 to film one of its upcoming episodes.

“LIC Flea and Food is thrilled to have one of the most popular national television shows focused on flea markets coming to our market this weekend,” said Joshua Schneps, LIC Flea president. “This will be a great visibility for Queens, Long Island City and our vendors at the market.”

Each week, contestants, who participate in teams, are given $500 to explore items at different flea markets. The participants search for objects they can buy, fix and then “flip” for a higher selling price. By the end of each show, the contestants display their transformations and battle it out to win all the profits earned.

“We look forward to a great weekend,” said Schneps. “LIC Flea already has so much to offer in terms of a great weekend destination and this will make it even more exciting.”

Also starting this weekend, LIC Flea will offer free bus service to the market from Astoria, on the corner of 30th Avenue and 31st Street, and Greenpoint, Brooklyn, on the corner of Nassau Avenue and Manhattan Avenue. You can register for a free spot on the Astoria bus shuttle here and the Brooklyn bus shuttle here.

On Saturday, gift cards or “Flea Market Bucks” will be given away to lucky visitors to spend all day at the flea market.

LIC Flea is located at 5-25 46th Avenue in LIC. It is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
