Taggers In Cuffs

Cops Pinch M.V., R’wood Men For Graffiti

Smearing tags on properties proved costly for two alleged graffiti vandals from Middle Village and Ridgewood busted by 104th Precinct officers in separate cases this week, law enforcement sources announced.

Reportedly, police cuffed 20-yearold David Negron of 62nd Road in Middle Village last Saturday, Mar. 8, for allegedly committing 21 acts of graffiti vandalism across Maspeth and Ridgewood. Sources said Negron allegedly tagged “everything” from storefronts to mailboxes and public payphones.

In a separate case, 43-year-old Joseph Guilfoyle of Palmetto Street in Ridgewood was booked on Tuesday, Mar. 11, for allegedly painting tags onto the sides of expressways and parkways across Queens.

Police declined to identify both suspects’ alleged tags in order to avoid providing publicity of the misdeeds.

Law enforcement sources said Guzman committed the graffiti in recent weeks across storefronts, ATM machines, mailboxes, doors, walls, emergency call boxes and payphones.

Guzman was taken into custody last Saturday at a location on WoodwardAvenue in Ridgewood for allegedly making graffiti. Upon further investigation by the 104th Precinct, he was reportedly booked on additional charges the following day.

According to the Queens District Attorney’s office, Guzman received desk appearance tickets on charges of making graffiti and criminal mischief.

Regarding Guilfoyle, police sources stated he allegedly defaced sound barriers and other property on multiple roadways across the borough, including the Long Island and Van Wyck expressways and the Grand Central and Belt parkways.

The vandalism was reportedly committed within the confines of the 102nd, 104th, 106th, 107th, 108th, 110th and 111th precincts.

Based on information obtained during an investigation, police arrested Guilfoyle at his home Tuesday morning on multiple charges of making graffiti and criminal mischief.

According to court records, he was being held on Wednesday pending arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
