Students at Maspeth’s I.S. 73 learned about pursuing careers in law enforcement during the annual “Law Day” event hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Maspeth in conjunction with the school. The 38th annual program featured guest speakers from the NYPD, the 104th Precinct Civilian Observation Patrol (104COP) and various law enforcement agencies who informed youngsters of their duties and fielded questions. Participants included Sgt. Edward Reiman of the 104th Precinct, Det. Robert Diaz of the NYPD Community Affairs Bureau, 104COP members Jon Kablack, Kevin Schick and Louis Kirchgessner and representatives of the Department of Sanitation Community Affairs Unit; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the city Office of Emergency Management; the MTA Police Department; the Fire Department and the Queens District Attorney’s office. Many of the guest speakers are pictured above with I.S. 73 Principal Camillo V. Turriciano and Edward McGowan of the Maspeth Kiwanis, who organized the event.
