Wolfpack Howls After Taking Minor Pennant

Ozone-Howard Squad Captures District Title

This was the first district pennant the kids have captured in the league, in which they begin competing for titles at 10 years of age. They had to beat other teams in Queens for the flag, in particular Rockaway Little League and RGMVM.

The 10-year-old Ozone-Howard Wolfpack Little League team won the district flag for Queens, on Wednesday, July 2. The team now moves onto the city championships to and potentially compete for the state title in late July.

The kids outscored their opponents in the first round 50-8, mostly on great defense and pitching, lead by their aces Brandon Ricca and John Dezago.

After the Little League State Championships have ended, the kids will play travel baseball most of the summer in highly competitive tournaments until the end of October. The kids will also be preparing for their big adventure in 2016 when they make the highly anticipated trip to Cooperstown, and hopefully Williamsport to compete in the Little League World Series.

“You have to aim high and reach for what you think cannot be achieved,” coach Nick Loprinzi said. “If you don’t you will never be successful. Win or lose doesn’t matter, if you focus and play the best to your abilityhellip; and sometimes a little above it.”
