Police are seeking the public’s help in tracking down a suspect that allegedly assaulted a 29-year-old victim just after midnight on Wednesday, July 30, according to law enforcement sources. The suspect was allegedly driving a light colored, late model GMC Sierra pick-up southbound on 99th Street in Ozone Park when he was stopped by the victim who was exiting a parked car and prevented the suspect from passing, police said. The suspect began arguing with the victim, and then reportedly accelerated slightly, bumping him with the truck, police stated. The suspect then pressed the gas again, running over the victim and dragging him for several blocks before fleeing the scene at 101st Avenue, law enforcement sources said. Officers from the 102nd Precinct responded to the scene, and the victim was taken by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police noted. The victim reportedly suffered abdominal and back injuries that are not considered life threatening, it was noted. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577 TIPS.
