A Forest Hills stable has been acquired by a non-profit that will offer therapeutic horsemanship to people with disabilities. GallopNYC acquired the horse stables formerly known as Lynne’s Riding School at 88-08 70th Road in Forest Park.

GallopNYC will use the stables primarily for full-time therapeutic riding programs, but will also offer limited riding to the public as a part of its horse education programming. The stable acquisition will allow for a considerable expansion of GallopNYC’s programs.

“We’ve loved working at Lynne’s for the last five years,” said Alicia Kershaw, executive director of GallopNYC. “We look forward to offering riding at Lynne’s high standards. We have a waiting list of 900 riders for our citywide therapeutic programs and with the additional capacity in Forest Hills we can serve many of them.”

Lynne’s will be donating all of the horses and barn equipment to GallopNYC. The former owners will continue to have an active role at the stable.

GallopNYC offers therapeutic horseback riding to children and adults with disabilities in New York City. According to GallopNYC, therapeutic horseback riding provides proven, measurable benefits for people with developmental, emotional, social, and physical challenges that help riders walk, talk and learn, inspiring them to live their lives as fully, independently and productively as possible. GallopNYC serve 450 riders every week at six locations throughout the city.
