A Glendale-based autism awareness group will be hosting a golf outing with a bevy of special contests and prizes — including the chance to win $1 million — to raise funds for autism awareness and their Kidz into Action campaign.

Greg Vasicek, president and founder of the Play4Autism Foundation, is excited to bring golfers out to Kissena Park Golf Course at 164-15 Booth Memorial Ave. in Fresh Meadows on Saturday, Aug. 12, for the first annual Golfing 4 Autism Tournament presented by Citywide Slingshot Rentals, for a day full of golf, barbecue, contests and comedy.

“We are proud to announce that the Play4Autism Foundation will be staging our 1st Annual ‘Golfing 4 Autism’ Tournament to help us further spread awareness about autism and to raise funds to put the Kidz into Action,” Vasicek said. “Our mission is to increase the public’s awareness and acceptance of autism, while improving the quality of life and hope for children. We will achieve this goal by introducing children on the Autism Spectrum and their families to our Kidz into Action Program.”

Player registration will kick off at 9 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast and hole assignments for the tournament, which will be in a modified shotgun format.

The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. where the $20,000 Hole in One contest will be held on the 14th hole, and the Longest Drive contest will take place on the 18th hole, and lunch at the Turn will take place at noon.

From 3 to 5 p.m. golfers will get to enjoy the barbecue reception and trophy presentation. Play4Autism will also be honoring Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara. During the reception Play4Autism will conduct the Million Dollar Shootout on the 18th hole and the putting contest, as well as a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

“We are proud to honor Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara for his effortless work and dedication in improving the lives of individuals on the Autism and Special Needs Spectrum,” Vasicek said.

Finally, golfers are invited to the “19th Hole Comedy Night” party starting at 7 p.m. at Pat’s Sports Bar at 73-13 Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village.

Registration fees are $125 for individuals, $250 for doubles and $500 for foursomes.
