Suffolk County police arrested 13 people who were a part of a heroin and cocaine distribution network, and some of the major players were men from Queens.

Oswaldo Alfaro, 35, of Jackson Heights was the ring leader of the operation and stored his drugs in two stash houses in Brentwood and Central Islip. According to Thomas Spota, Suffolk Country District Attorney, Alfaro’s main heroin supplier was Juan Montoya, 27, of Elmhurst. Alfaro ran his operation out of his home on 73rd Street between 35th and 37th avenues.

“Oswald Alfaro personally delivered 240 bags of heroin to Central Islip and to Brentwood at an average of every three days,” Spota said. “Alfaro collected approximately $12,000 in cash for these deliveries, and strictly supervised his network of runners who would resell the narcotics to users from 8 in the morning to midnight every day.”

Alfaro’s main supplier of cocaine was identified as 37-year-old Giovanni Delarosa of Little Neck. Spota said Alfaro was a “task master: he pushed re-sellers in a way we have not previously seen and chastised his ’employees’ if sales were down.”

Police executed search warrants in Jackson Heights, stash houses in Central Islip and Brentwood and residences in Elmhurst, Little Neck and Corona. Law enforcement agents recovered $125,000 in cash, three pistols, 1 kilo of heroin, 90 grams of crack cocaine, 195 grams of marijuana and nine vehicles including an Aston Martin, a BMW and a Mercedes Benz.

The drugs were sold across Suffolk County including the communities of Bohemia, Ronkonkoma, Islip Terrace, Oakdale and Smithtown.

“The Suffolk County Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney’ Office deserve credit for initiating this investigation into a significant and violent drug trafficking ring in Suffolk County,” said DEA Special Agent James J. Hunt. “As a result of federal and local law enforcement working together, the entire drug network was shut down and will no longer be a heroin source of supply enabling addicts and overdoses in Suffolk County.”

Alfaro was charged with one count of operating as a major drug trafficker, one count of second-degree conspiracy, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Delarosa and Montoya were charged with one count of second-degree conspiracy.

Walter Dancey, 31, of Brentwood operated the stash house in Brentwood and was charged with one count of operating as a major trafficker, one count of second-degree conspiracy and three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Others arrested in the sting include Jonathan Aguilar, 26, of Brooklyn; Maria Alfaro, 34, of Central Islip;  Seref Kaatsiz, 41, of Bay Shore; Michael Burmester, 34, of East Islip; Justin Connelly, 34, of Ronkonkoma; James Kelly, 35, of Copiague; Frances Kennedy, 44, of Bay Shore; Richard Olivieri, 34, of East Northport; and Alex Wenkert, 25, of Commack.
