Queens Senator to help give away 40,000 free books to families and educators this weekend

State Senator Leroy Comrie, in partnership with the Queens United Federation of Teachers and local partners, will be giving away 40,000 free books to families and educators this weekend.

The event will take place at P.S. 15 in St. Albans on Saturday, May 5. Books will be distributed from 9 a.m. until the last book is given away. Distribution is on a first come, first served basis; each parent can take up to 20 books, while educators can take up to 50 books each.

Other participants who will be at the event include the NAACP, Borough President Melinda Katz, Assemblymembers Alicia Hyndman and Clyde Vanel and City Councilman I. Daneek Miller.

Comrie is calling on volunteers to aid in their efforts on Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5. Participants will help the event organizers sort and distribute books.
