Culture Lab LIC will be hosting its fall gala on Oct. 27 to mark the beginning of its fall season and raise funds to further Culture Lab’s mission of being an umbrella for arts and culture in western Queens.
The gala, which is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m, will feature a cocktail hour with interactive performances from local artists, art, food, dessert, wine and beer, followed by five different performances in their theater. There will also be surprise performances and special appearances.
“We want to show people what happens at Culture Lab,” said Edjo Wheeler, executive director of Culture Lab. “We want to give them a taste of all the different folks that keep this wheel running.”
“There’s music, theater, dance, fine arts and a strong sense of community,” Wheeler added.
During the gala, Culture Lab will present three awards to prominent community leaders to honor their service.
The gala will take place in Culture Lab LIC’s headquarters at The Plaxall Gallery, 5-25 46th Ave.
Culture Lab is a non-profit organization formed to be the arts and culture umbrella for western Queens. Culture Lab LIC also provides free space to other nonprofit organizations to further their missions.
