From film festivals to pumpkin smashes, there’s something for everyone to do this weekend!

GET TESTED AND VACCINATED

Before doing anything in person, get tested for COVID-19 and get vaccinated and boosted! Also, don’t forget to wear your mask indoors and socially distance wherever possible.

To slow the spread of COVID-19, the New York City Department of Health suggests getting tested often. Here is where you can find several places in Queens to get tested this weekend:

Friday, Nov. 4

12th Annual Queens World Film Festival – Voices of India (Flushing Town Hall)

To celebrate the 12th Annual Queens Film Festival, Flushing Town Hall is showcasing two short films from India, “Yashodhara the Buddha’s Wife” and “MAALI (GARDENER)”. The screening will be followed by an in-person Q&A with the filmmakers from both films. 137-35 Northern Blvd. Admission: $15 (Members, Seniors & Students w/ID: $12). 7:00 p.m. – 9:15 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 5

Pumpkin Smash 2022 (Lou Lodati Park) 

Bring Pumpkins, Jack-o-Lanterns, and Gourds for a Smashing Good Time! The NYC Compost Project will turn them into compost for City parks and green spaces. Join us for refreshments, activities, and more! FREE. Registration recommended; drop-ins welcome! 41-15 Skillman Ave. 10:30 a.m. – 1:30p.m. Rain or shine. CLICK HERE to register.

Can’t make it? You can bring your jack-o-lanterns to a food scrap drop-off site near you! For a map of food scrap drop-off sites, visit nyc.gov/dropfoodscraps.

Hands on History: Elections Then and Now (King Manor Museum)

Did you know that Rufus King ran for president as well as vice president? Find out about how voting rights have changed since Rufus signed the Constitution, play an election game, and make some art with us! 150-03 Jamaica Ave. FREE. 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. 

Sunday, Nov. 6

Fall Foliage Photography (Queensbridge Park) 

Take in the scenic autumn views of this park during the golden hour. We will explore this local park for its diverse offering of trees and fall foliage while learning basic techniques of photography. Bring your own camera or smartphone. Entrance – Vernon Boulevard and 41st Avenue. 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

Fall Festival (The Rockaway Hotel + Spa) 

Come on down for an activity filled day at our second annual Fall Fest. Fun for the whole family to enjoy all things fall; vendor pop-ups, live music and more! Stop by with your little ones to join in on some autumnal arts and crafts! Enjoy food from The Dancing Pig: BBQ with no boundaries, straight from Astoria. 108-10 Rockaway Beach Drive. 12 p.m. – 7 p.m. FREE.
