Strong winds buffeted the Rockaway peninsula as FDNY firefighters battled a three-alarm house fire in Arverne on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze broke out in the basement of the two-and-a-half-story private home at 327 Beach 68th St. in Arverne on Dec. 28 just before 1 p.m. and quickly spread to the attic.
More than 30 units responded to the scene, bringing 138 firefighters. The fire was brought under control at 2:23 p.m., according to the FDNY.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal’s office.
