Gunman sought in Chistmas Day shooting near York College in Jamaica: NYPD

A man was shot in his groin in broad daylight during a Christmas Day altercation one block south of York College in Jamaica and detectives from the 103rd Precinct are still searching for the gunman.

The incident occurred at around 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25, inside 106-56 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., where a 24-year-old man was arguing with an unknown individual, according to authorities. The dispute turned violent when the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired, striking the man in his groin area, police said.

The gunman ran off westbound towards 160th Street.

EMS responded to the crime scene and rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

The NYPD on Dec. 28 released surveillance photos that show the suspect gripping the firearm in his right hand. He is described as having a dark complexion and long hair. He was wearing an orange and black jacket over a gray hoodie, gray sweatpants and dark sneakers.
