Queens Council Member Vickie Paladino announced that her district office will be hosting Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) benefits coordinator Tanya Thomas every other Wednesday beginning Dec. 21. Thomas will be working from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the days she’s at the office, located at 20-15 Francis Lewis Blvd. in Whitestone.

Since being founded in 2016, DVS has quickly moved to connect, mobilize and empower veterans in New York City in order to foster purpose-driven lives for New York City service members – past and present – in addition to their caregivers, survivors and families. DVS provides essential services and programs focused on pivotal areas such as economic empowerment, housing security, benefits, health and wellness and culture.

“All veterans are welcome, regardless of whether they reside in my district,”Paladino said. “Please spread the word to everyone you know!”

Paladino also provided contact information for a variety of services dedicated for veterans. The 24/7 crisis hotline for veterans can be reached at 988 or 800-273-8255 and pressing 1. The intake specialist for DVS can be reached by phone at 212-416-5250 or via email at connect@veterans.nyc.gov. Financial support information can be found at Vetconnectnyc.org.
