The NYPD announced Thursday that an Oakland Gardens man was arrested and booked at the 111th Precinct in Bayside for allegedly robbing his neighbor, a 92-year-old woman, at knifepoint last week.

Leo Hyun, 24, of 233rd Street near Alley Pond Park was taken into custody on Monday and charged with robbery, burglary and unlawful imprisonment for going to his neighbor’s home at 231 Street and 64th Avenue on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 3 and knocking on the front door.

The victim answered the door and Hyun allegedly engaged her in conversation before pushing the senior into the residence causing her to fall and strike her head, police said. Hyun then barged into the home and allegedly pulled out a knife and forcibly removed the victim’s wallet containing her credit cards and $100 in cash before running off northbound on 231st Street toward the Long Island Expressway.

The victim suffered minor injuries and pain to her head but refused medical attention at the crime scene, police said.

Detectives from the 111th Precinct apprehended Hyun on the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 8 on the street in front of his home, just two blocks away from where his victim lives.
