A Message From Queens To The Doorstep Of  The White House

by DAVID OATS The Queens Courier’s exclusive study on the serious Hepatitis C epidemic in the Borough has now not only gone to the halls of Congress, but the door of The White House as well.
At last Tuesday’s "Listening Tour" in Flushing by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Queens Courier Publisher Victoria Schneps publicly asked the First Lady what the federal government can do about the growing crisis. "You know, Queens is the most ethnically diverse place on the planet earth," Schneps told the First Lady. "And we are not getting the help from the federal government we need to cope with this enormous problem," she said.
Clinton then changed from Senate candidate mode to the First Lady — wife of the President that she is. "We will do all we can to get you what’s needed on this Vicki," Clinton said. You’ve brought a very important issue to me and we will solve it, I assure you ."
On the way back from the Queens forum, Clinton aides said that Mrs. Clinton remarked that this was an issue she was not aware of but was glad that she could now do something about it.
