Holy Cross wins state soccer title

With the score tied at 1 in Friday afternoon's New York State Catholic High School championship game, Holy Cross senior forward Carmelo Caminiti was sent off in the 28th minute for what the referee perceived to be intentionally spitting at a Chaminade player.

The Knights, though, were unfazed by the sending off and scored the game-winner four minutes later to win the school's first ever state title at the Long Island Junior Soccer Park in Plainview, LI.
