Police Blotter: Man loses life crossing Whitestone Expressway

LINDEN HILL — A man was killed on Christmas Eve when he was hit by a car as he tried to cross the Whitestone Expressway, police said.

The victim was trying to cross the Whitestone Expressway at Linden Place at about 9 p.m. when he was hit, Officer Joseph Cavitolo said.

No summonses were issued, he said.

Jamaica man dies in dispute in backyard on Christmas eve

JAMAICA — A man was killed in his backyard in Jamaica Christmas Eve after a dispute with two unknown suspects, police said.

The victim, Bradley Gurante, 61, of 107-30 170th St., was killed at about 4 p.m. after the two suspects entered his backyard and started an argument, Officer Joseph Cavitolo said.

The suspects fled the scene, he said, and an investigation was ongoing.

Man shot in face in nightclub fracas

RAVENSWOOOD — A man was shot in the face at a nightclub after a dispute with another patron Sunday night, police said.

Officer Joseph Cavitolo said the victim, a 48-year-old man, was taken to New York Hospital after being shot once in the face by another male patron in his 20s. His identity was unknown at press time.

The suspect fled the scene at Club Antigua at 21-10 34th Ave., Cavitolo said.

An investigation was ongoing, Cavitolo said.

Man falls on tracks, killed by L train

RIDGEWOOD — A man was killed Sunday morning in Ridgewood when he fell onto the tracks of the L train, police said.

Officer Joseph Cavitolo said the man was killed at about 1 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by the Manhattan-bound L train at the Wyckoff station on Myrtle Avenue.

Dectective Joseph Pentangelo said witnesses said he had fallen on the tracks.

The incident is under investigation, he said.

Man stable after Dutch Kills shooting

DUTCH KILLS — A man was shot after a dispute in Dutch Kills Sunday morning, police said.

Officer Joseph Cavitolo said the man was shot in the leg after a dispute at 38-12 27th Ave. at about 6 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition, he said.

No arrests have been made and an investigation was ongoing, he said.

Police investigate death of Maspeth youth

MASPETH — Police were called in to investigate after the body of a young man was found in Maspeth, police said.

The body of Andre Mejia, 18, was found at 66-11 Maurice Ave. at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Officer Joseph Cavitolo said.

There were no visible signs of trauma to Mejia
