PS 203 names playground after educator

Politicians, family, and friends of longtime teacher and Queens education adviser Betty Silverman turned out to honor her Friday at a ceremony dedicating the playground at PS 203 in Bayside in her memory.

Silverman, a Glendale resident who had been a member of School Board 24 and special adviser on education to Borough President Claire Shulman since 1990, died in February of a sudden, massive heart attack at 62, said her daughter, Judi Fenton of Brooklyn.
