Several residents expressed concerns about auto-theft Dec.14 during a relatively uneventful meeting of the 103rd Community Council in Jamaica.
While overall crime is down 60 percent in the last five years within the precinct, according to police at the Jamaica precinct, residents say automobile theft and break-ins are still a big concern.
Carole Eldridge, a Hollis resident who regularly attends the meeting, said her block is a magnet for stolen vehicles, which are brought there and stripped of their parts.
Eldridge, who lives between 109th Avenue and Hollis Avenue, said a lot next to her home is vacant and there are no houses on the opposite side.
