Crime fell by about 20 percent in 1999 in the 111th Police Precinct, making this past year the third straight year in which crime decreased significantly in the northeast Queens precinct, preliminary figures released this week by the Police Department showed.
The only increases in reported crime in the precinct between 1998 and 1999, the Police Department said, were an 11.2 percent jump in robberies and a nearly 10 percent rise in grand larcenies.
The 111th Police Precinct, which is headquartered in Bayside and also covers Little Neck, Douglaston, Hollis Hills, Auburndale and parts of Flushing, has recently undergone several personnel changes with the retirement of Capt. Anthony Lubrano and the transfer of Crime Prevention Sgt. Gregg Reutter to Queens Borough Patrol North.
