Marriott hotel rising near JFK

Public officials and developers lauded the groundbreaking last week for a new Marriott Courtyard, the first new hotel to be built near Kennedy Airport in 15 years, as evidence of an economic resurgence in the area.

Construction, which began Jan. 11 on the 13-floor, 166-room hotel located at 135th Avenue and Inwood Street, was expected to be completed in early 2001.
