The Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps is known for saving lives and rescuing people who have lapsed into cardiac arrest, gone into shock after being stung by a bee or suffered from smoke inhalation during a fire, not for being a positive role model for teenagers.
But for the past two years the Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps on the corner of Union Turnpike and 257th Street in Glen Oaks, has been running a youth program that trains teens for a career in Emergency Medical Services.
