Black History

The Dorcas Unit of the Nora F. Taylor Missionary Society of the Alien A.M.E. Church invites you to its annual Black Heritage Celebration, “A Celebration of Negro Spirituals: The Songs That Got Us Through,” on Fri., Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. The Celebration will be held at the Allen A.M.E. Classes

The United States Power Squadrons, Sail and Power boating offers public service to adults and teenagers. Clubs

To help immigrants overcome their communication barriers in English, the Humanist Center of Cultures of Jackson Heights is organizing a free weekly Multicultural Conversation Club. Dancing

The Long Island Singles hosts an afternoon of socializing, and Social Dancing 50+, every Wednesday and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. featuring the best danceable ballroom dance music, offering coffee, bagels, pastries, allafternoon, a free lesson for beginners and advanced, a nice wood dance floor and introductions, for a $6 donation at the NCI Club, 800 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Events

Outreach Project is seeking support for its eighth Annual Bowl-A-Thon to fight alcohol and substance abuse. Individuals or groups who bowl, or those who would like to make a contribution, will help raise funds for the organization's many treatment programs for adolescents, adults and women with children. Participants will be asked to collect pledge dollars for every pin they knock down at the event. All bowlers will receive a free gift. Those who raise at least $200 in pledges will receive an Outreach Project sweatshirt. The Boy Scouts of Holy Family's Troop 55 in Fresh Meadows are planning to have their first Eagle Scout Court of Honor for fellow scout Michael Schwartzberg, who is only 13 years old.
