Welcome to the Point. The Point being College Point. I hope that you are in a real loving mood after St. Valentine's Day. It was a really complimentary week. Everyone I met loves my column and recognized me immediately. This gives me a great deal of satisfaction because I do write about many important events, items and people. A great big thank you and much love to all my fans.
The plans for the Retirement Dinner for Pastor William Cameron of the First Reformed Church of College Point are set for Sat., March 18, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Grand Bay Marina Restaurant, Flushing Meadow Park. The menu includes hors d'oeuvres, salad, choice of filet mignon, salmon, chicken Francais, coffee, cake, soft drinks on tables, cash bar. A special anniversary to two wonderful people, Joan and Sal Graziano, who are celebrating 45 years of wedded bliss on Feb. 20.
Father Paul is now the chaplain of St. Ambrose Council. His enthusiasm and love of God, the Knights and his Seminarians at St. Alphonsus is uppermost. Congratulations to Fr. Paul and all his good work.
Sister Joan Martin, OP, Principal of St. Agnes Academic High School, College Point, is serving on the committee with Mr. Geoghan for awarding grants that are available to the schools or clusters of schools for the “Alive in Hope” capital and endowment campaign.
Condolences to the family of Fr. Francis Seeger, Chaplain of Mount St. Mary's Cemetery, Flushing, until he retired in 1987. He was predeceased by his brother, Fr. Peter Seeger who died last November, a former Pastor of St. Fidelis.

A very happy birthday to Hilda Luzapone on Feb. 22. Her party will be at Verdi. She has lived 56 years in College Point and is the mother of five children and grandmother of 10 grandchildren.
Happiness to Laura and Frank Coppola, who are expecting an addition to their family. Grandma and Grandpa are also anxious.
A very happy birthday to Jack Sinatra, Diana Marie Sabetti, Hilda Malave and Paul Spateri.

Congratulations to “Strut Your Stuff”, as they celebrate their 10th year. Their competition team is dancing in Disney World in July. This is truly an honor. Maureen Smith is very proud to have six of her 11 grandchildren in the dance program. I am looking forward to seeing their recital on June 10. My grandchildren would have loved to be part of the program, if they lived here.
The Fun Factory will run until March 16, Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at $2 per person. Craft activities may include: paper crafts, jewelry designs, key chains, masks, fun hats and puppets. Sports activities may include: tug of war, relay races, other playground games and story telling. Sabina Says: Many thanks to St. Paul's 2nd Grade teacher Mary Duncan, for making copies of my Eulogy to the Dogs, for all the children in her class. It made their sorrow understandable.
Congratulations to Cathy Tuttle, who bowled 205 at Whitestone Lanes and Maureen Napolitano, who bowled 200.
I know that Helen Mazzarello can't wait to get back to bowl after her knee surgery but I told her with a big smile that I would try and take up the slack. Believe it or not, I bowled four strikes and two spares in one game and I closed my eyes after throwing the ball down the alley. Just luck! Condolences to each and every one of us who lost Charles Schulz after 50 years of his cartoon, “Peanuts” and the gang.
Congratulations to Samantha, the Springer Spaniel, who won “Best of the Show” at the Westchester Dog Show held at Madison Square Garden. Her father had been a previous winner and now she will be having a family and nurturing the next winner!
