Queens census response well below target number

Queens response rates in the 2000 census count have improved slightly since the Census Bureau began tracking the rates two weeks ago, but census takers still face the monumental task of trying to make up for disappointingly low rates in some Queens neighborhoods.

In the southeast, the neighborhoods of Jamaica, Richmond Hill and Ozone Park have recorded some of the lowest response rates in the borough.
