Playwright tackles conflicts of the day

Playwrights and producers in Italy traditionally get together nearly every day of the week to discuss their work, their culture and heritage, the political conflicts of the day, psychological issues, and, of course, women and romance. One can easily imagine them sitting in a cafe in Sicily, the melodic legato of an accordion in the air, the wine, and the passionate voices recalling their national hero Luigi Pirandello, no doubt one of the most influential playwrights of the early 20th century.

New York playwrights and producers, on the other hand, rarely if ever fraternize. For whatever reason, this city tends to isolate its artists.
