The Quality Services for the Autism Community held its annual fund-raiser last Thursday night at its headquarters in Astoria to raise money in support of the various programs and services offered by the support group.
Among those who showed up to lend a hand were City Councilman Sheldon Leffler (D-Hollis) and his wife Joy, and Assemblyman Ivan Lafayette (D-Jackson Heights) and his wife Bertine.
Gary Maffei, executive director of QSAC, said all the proceeds from the auction, which featured more than 250 items, will go to children and adults with autism and programs that will benefit them. An eight-year employee of QSAC, Maffei hopes that next year they can move the event to the Astoria Manor because QSAC has grown so large.
