Lancman was joined by David Weprin, Democratic candidate for City Council, community leaders and residents of Queens Village, Bellerose and Little Neck to draw attention to dangerous intersections in the three Queens neighborhoods. More than 75 people attended the three events.
Lancman organized the protests as Bayside residents expressed deep concern that the city had not moved to make the pedestrian ramp on the southbound Clearview Expressway service road at 46th Avenue safer after the death of an 11-year-old biker back in July 1994. Christopher Scott, another 11-year-old on a bicycle, was killed last month at the same spot when he rode off the ramp and was hit by a car.
