State Sen. Smith seeks more buses

Smith said 400 additional houses are planned in neighborhoods such as Springfield Gardens, Laurelton, and Jamaica, and this will squeeze already overcrowded buses and subway stations.

Over the last four years about 1,000 new housing units have been built in those neighborhoods, the senator said.
