“I've been here seven years,” Wolff said. “There have been some very good players here and some excellent coaches who take much of the credit for this.”
In the victory, St. Francis Prep alum Kevin Fitzgerald, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard had nine points and four rebounds for the Terriers.
Wolff, who's career record is now 102-91 at Boston University, began his coaching career at Division III Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. where he served as an assistant from 1978-80. A year later Wolff was named head coach at Connecticut College and guided the Camels to a two-year mark of 30-18, including a 16-8 record in his inaugural campaign.
In 1982, he began his first of three years as an assistant coach at St. Bonaventure under St. Francis Prep alum Jim O'Brien, who is now head coach at Ohio State. There he helped lead the Bonnies to their first-ever 20-win season, resulting in an NIT berth in 1983.
Wolff then served as an assistant coach at Wake Forest for four years under Bob Staak, one year at Southern Methodist University for John Shumate and four years at the University of Virginia for Jeff Jones before being named head coach at Boston University in 1994.
Before his coaching career, Wolff was a standout guard at Holy Cross High School, helping lead the Knights to an overall mark of 55-11 as a three-year varsity starter. As a senior captain, Wolff guided Cross to the 1973 Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan championship. He has been inducted into the Holy Cross Athletic Hall of Fame.
Wolff spent two years at Louisiana State University before transferring to University of Connecticut where he played for two years under former head coach Dom Perno.
In his senior year at UConn, Wolff received the team's Most Inspirational Player award after averaging 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds a game. Second on the team in assists with 77, Wolff led the Huskies from the free throw line, averaging 84 percent.
