Colonial Players hold auditions for “The Late Christopher Bean” by Sidney Howard at the theater in the Hollis Woods Community Church on 82nd Avenue and Bell Boulevard ( one block south of Union Turnpike) on Monday, Feb. 5 and Friday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. The play's director is Andrew R. Szewczuk.

In the play, Christopher Bean was a drifter and painter, who worked as a farm hand for a country doctor and his family. He gave the doctor his paintings to acknowledge his kindness. Many years after his death, collectors come seeking original Bean paintings, since they have gained value in art circles. There is a great scramble to retrieve those original canvasses, which have been used over time to repair various locations on the farm, such as chicken coops and roofs. The question is, will love, morals or greed win the day?

Performances are Fridays, April 20, 27, May 4 and 11 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays April 21, 28, and May 12 at 8 p.m.: Sundays. April 22, 29 and May 6 at 3.30 p.m. Call 718-740-9400, 24 hours.
