Queens Rape Counseling Center 71-49 Loubet St., Forest Hills, offers two weekly support groups; the first meets on Monday from 5:20 p.m. to 7 p.m. for victims of both sexual abuse and domestic violence. Attend a women's support group led by psychotherapist Rhoda Findling, author of “Don't Call that Man! A survival Guide To Letting Go.” The group will help you let go of relationships that have ended or are dysfunctional. A Lyme disease patient support group has been formed in Queens to assist borough residents in coping with the tick-borne illness. A support group can be very helpful to a patient in understanding the multiple symptoms of Lyme disease. 718- 263-8490.

The Pomonok Neighborhood Center, 67-09 Kissena Blvd., Flushing serves the housing needs of neighborhoods by assisting individuals, families, building management companies and their staff with wide-ranging types of free advice and counseling and through workshops and seminars. 718-591-6060.

The Breathing Easy support group is a free support group sponsored by Flushing Hospital Medical Center as part of their ongoing efforts to offer important health care services and information to the community. At Flushing Hospital Medical Center, a trained volunteer is on staff every Wednesday and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to answer questions about Medicare eligibility criteria, benefits, and filing procedures. R.A.R.E. (Recent Active Retirees Experience) is for you if you're retired! Retirement brings changes and challenges! QSAC, Quality Services for the Autism Community, offers a twice-monthly support group meeting for parents and family members of individuals with autism. Volunteers

A shelter for victims of abuse to which Hillcrest Jewish Center has been delivering clothing and household items is currently short of space and requests only winter clothing for the time being. To donate such clothing, call 718- 657-2504.

Join the diverse and dedicated group of men and women who help enrich our Queens community – become a Queens Museum of Art volunteer. No experience is necessary. All it takes is a cheerful personality, team spirit, and one morning or afternoon a week. The museum staff provides all training and supports. The Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program which assists taxpayers that file basic tax returns and cannot afford to pay professional preparers. The Association for the Advancement of the Blind and Retarded is seeking salable clothing, household items, books, and furniture for its new thrift shop whose main purpose is to provide its group home members with meaningful work training and opportunities to interact with the community. During the upcoming personal income tax filing season, Queens Borough Public Library will present income tax counseling for low-income and older adults, sponsored by the American Association of Retired Persons and the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program. Beginning in the first week of February 2001 through April 13 on Thursdays and Fridays, the tax counseling sessions will take place at the Central Library, 89-11 Merrick Boulevard, Jamaica, in Area A on the lower level. There is no session on Thursday, March 15. Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis. Counselors trained by the Internal Revenue Service ( will provide assistance in completing personal income tax returns for the year 2000.
