The Our Lady of the Snows fifth-grade volleyball team won 2-of-3 games against St. Gregory’s Green team on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The final scores were 15-2, 15-1 for Snows and 15-6 for St Gregory’s.
The first game was quickly played, with Erica DellaJacono scoring the first 10 points and Emily Pennachio scoring the next five points. Game two was even quicker, with all 15 points served by Stefanie Posa.
Game three. however took a little longer. Rebecca Spitz and Melissa Lyons scored one point each, while DellaJacono and Pennachio served two points each, bringing the team’s total score to six points.
Saturday’s March 3 game against St Joe’s added three more wins for OLS. The score in all games was 15-3. Points were scored by Lyana Labrada, Erica DellaJacano, Emily Pennachio, Erin Dolan, Rebecca Spitz, Stefanie Posa and Ashley Frangella. The team effort was rounded out with Tina Khiani, Diana Lutzak, Melissa Lyons, Kristina Mosquito and Danielle Petrone aiding in defense and 100 percent team attendance at this game.
OLS faced off against St. Joe’s against, winning the first game, 15-4, as Jennifer Brosnan scored seven consecutive points and then later added six more. Caitlin Graham scored two more points for the win of the first game. Mindy Goldstein, Shannon Vetack, Julia Hannigan, Rita Romeo, and Sara Correa made excellent attempts at returning the balls. Ada Lee, Caleigh Orourke, Kaitlin Smolen and Colleen Harrison worked hard as a team.
