DAC Eden Florist Yankees 8, DAC Cascarino's Mets 3. Greg Polkowski and Jared Katz Struck out 16 as the Yankees beat the Mets, 8-3. Manoli Sgouros homered and Robbie Fielder had three RBIs.
OLBS Bandicoots 8, OLBS Warriors 5. The OLBS Bandicoots held off a last-inning rally, beating the OLBS Warriors 8-5. The Bandicoots were led by Max Vetrano, with seven strikeouts, and Michael Peranio, with five strikeouts. The hitting stars were Max Vetrano, with a solo home run, C.J. Pavlica, who drove in two runs with a single, and Pat Benini, who drove in two runs with a double.
DAC Continental Shipping Cardinals 11, DAC Durso’s A’s 4. Chris Carton pitched an excellent four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, while Thomas Wojciechowski led off the second inning with a home run. Also hot at the plate were Justin Black, Brendler, Chris Carton and Sebastian Grazziani. Anthony Rizzo hit a two-RBI double in the sixth inning and put the game out of reach for the A’s.
DAC Cascarino’s Mets 8, DAC Durso’s A’s 7. Pitcher Steve Cevino went three innings with three strikeouts, giving up three runs. Rob Liquori closed out the game with five strikeouts and no runs for the A’s to hold onto the one-run lead. Rob Liquori, Justin Goodman and Steve Cevino all had home runs and Remy Le Dily with two hits.
DAC Pony League
DePhillips Sport Mets 14, Reif Park Rangers 13. The Mets outlasted the Rangers behind Brandon Kopcienski’s grand slam and the pitching of Christian Muniz and Jon Blader. Jason Minella, Frank Lorigio, Chris Guzman, Tony Ronzino and Joe Passerella anchored the defense. For the Rangers, Mike Cavatelo, Irving Della Concha and Matt Bulger were tough on the mound and Travis Swiatocha had some key hits.
OLBS Dodgers 16, Neil Vains DDS Cardinals 15. The Dodgers improved to 3-0 in a high scoring game that went down to the final out. Vinny Pino had the game-winning hit and Elias Dimitropoulos had a big triple. Kevin McGrath, Chris Califano and Nick Dechiogroso combined for seven RBIs and Mike Aleide threw out a runner for the Cardinals. Chris Lynch, Eva Lash, David Valins and Adam Mostafa pitched well and Keith Fernandez was solid in the outfield.
Estate Animal Hospital Yankees 12, Exxon at Baybridge D-Rays 2. The Yankees beat the D-Rays behind home runs by Steve Airasian, Joey Mariani, Joseph Brent and Matt larotunda. Nick Grosso was great in the field. For the D-Rays, Ricky Honya pitched well in defeat and Marc Sacks, Zane Zdatny, Jason Waters and Gardet Schneiderman played well in the field.
Texas League
Queens Courier Cardinals 11, Cafe on the Green A’s 9. The Cardinals’ batting order was hot from the top to bottom, scoring runs in each inning with key hits by Tyler Ruiz and Patrick Victoria. Also having solid all-around games, especially defensively, were Andrew Haralampoudi and Evan Katz.
The A’s runs came in bunches, scoring five runs in the fourth and four runs in the final inning off a grand slam by Jesse Bagwell, bringing his RBI total for the day to five. Also supplying timely hitting were Julie Wagner and James Cazzola, with two RBIs, Max Goodrich, with two RBIs, and Ben Margolin, who went 3-for-3 and played a solid second base. Also contributing with a great effort were Ethan Ampel and Mac Crook.
St. Roberts 10, Cafe on The Green A’s 7. St. Robert’s bats were hot with key hits coming from Billy Hausser, Matthew Hausser, Davey Lovey and Robert Liboria, who hit a home run. Key defensive spots were well-played by Anthony Liboria at pitcher and Chris Anamilla at first.
Although the A’s had their share of offensive support, the highlight at the plate was turned in by Dylan Goodman, who cracked his first career base hit and RBI. Julie Wagner gave a gusty performance, giving her team a solid game while playing with a sore finger. Defensive games were turned in by Tyler Portolatin, Daniel Pazanin, Danny Onorato, Angelo Roveto, with the teams first catch of an outfield fly, and Mike Zirpoli, whose knack for closing out games defensively continued with an unassisted double play.
