Sapphire Edwards outduled her sister Jasmine for a third time this year as the Bayside sophomore hurler led the Commodores to a critical 6-2 win over Van Buren in a Queens III game Friday.

Bayside (11-5, 6-2) held a 2-0 lead until the sixth inning when Maria Scalisi capitalized on some shoddy Commodores defense with a game-tying two-run triple.

But Bayside answered right back in the top of the seventh with three straight singles. Clean-up hitter Talia Fromm followed with an RBI single to left. Two more runs scored on an error to the VeeBees leftfielder to put Bayside ahead 5-2. Kim Grabkowitz drove in Fromm for the Commodores final run.

Van Buren dropped to 8-8, 6-4.

Newtown 18, Long Island City 2. Annie Wu allowed two runs on two hits with five strikeouts in her first career win and Yoneidy Carreno went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs for Newtown (5-7, 3-7 Queens I).

Cardozo 10, Bowne 0. Josephine Georgio pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and Carrie Seidel and Brigette Burke went 4-for-4 for the Judges (11-2, 8-2 Queens III).

Townsend Harris 12, Flushing 2. Debbie Gopstein hurled a two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead the Hawks (7-6, 6-2 Queens I).

John Adams 12, Richmond Hill 1. Mary Zaun went 2-for-2 with four RBIs for the Spartans (9-2, 8-0 Queens II).

Francis Lewis 14, Hillcrest 0. Meghan Wooley tossed a no-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Patriots (11-4, 6-1 Queens III).

Forest Hills 15, Newtown 1. Arielle Teperman went 3-for-3 with four RBIs with three runs scored and Jessica Chow had two triples and four RBIs for the Rangers (&9-3, 5-2 Queens I).

Flushing 11, Queens Vocational 10. Rosandy Morel drove in Jillian Munryk with the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th for the Red Devils (3-5 Queens I).

Townsend Harris 19, Long Island City 0. Gopstein threw a no-hitter and Patty Carbone jacked a grand slam and had seven RBIs for the Hawks.

Cardozo 20, Hillcrest 0. Sara Colosi and Georgio each belted a grand slam and Lindsay Rhodes tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Judges.

Springfield Gardens 26, Far Rockaway 21. Heather McInnis and Kadia Saunders each had home runs for Springfield Gardens and, along with Shawntiasha Smith-Cummings and Judy Mathieu, had five hits to lead Springfield Gardens (2-5 Queens II).
