The Glen Oaks Jiffy Lube Bulldogs continued their surprising summer season against Jamaica Estates this week. The team, made up of 14 11-year-olds and one 12-year-old play against predominately 12-yearold teams, but that has not deterred their enthusiasm for the game.
The Bulldogs defeated a game Jamaica Estates team 7-3 last Thursday to even their season record to 4-4. The boys were helped by the strong pitching of Kevin Cheddie and Jeremy Hausdorf, who combined for a one-hitter, while striking out 13. Offensively, the team was led by Billy Gillespie, who singled with two RBIs and Brian Biscotti, who singled, drove in a run and stole two bases. Other players contributing to the victory were Jonathan Hyatt, Ryan Paroulek, Kevin Salcedo, Chris LeMelle, Alex Rydzewski, Anthony Civitano and Ray Potestio.
This week the Glen Oaks team will travel to take on the Little Neck/Douglaston all-stars Saturday.
