BRONX — A Flushing man was arrested and charged in the Aug. 30 shooting of two men in the Bronx, police said.
Johnny Castillo, 20, of 139-35 Ave. in Flushing was arrested shortly after the shooting which was at about 1:55 a.m. in front of 1712 Longfellow Ave. in the Bronx, police said.
A 25-year-old man was shot in the torso and taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition, police said. The second victim was shot in the leg and taken to St. Barnabas in stable condition, police said.
62-year-old woman stabs man, herself in Glen Oaks: Police
GLEN OAKS — A 64-year old man was stabbed several times, allegedly by a 62-year old woman known to him, about 7 p.m. Friday at an 89th Avenue residence, police said.
The woman then stabbed herself several times in the chest and abdomen, authorities said.
Both were taken to North Shore Hospital, where they were expected to survive, police said.
Man shot in Springfield Gds. dies from wound
SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — An unidentified man in his 20s was discovered with a gunshot wound to the neck at 176-12 129th Ave. early Sunday morning and later died, police said.
The victim was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:10 a.m. , police said.
No suspects or motives were identified by police, who were investigating.
37-year-old stabbed to death in Far Rockaway attack
FAR ROCKAWAY — A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death by another man about 1:15 p.m. Monday in front of 25-40 Far Rockaway Blvd., police said.
Tommie Stephens, 37, of 1430 Gateway Blvd., was pronounced dead at St. John’s Hospital after his alleged attacker, Christopher Jones, 37, of Roosevelt, L.I. fled in a white Acura, police said.
Jones was arrested, police said, and charges were pending.
Woman in her 20s found dead at Springfield Gardens corner
SPRINGFIELD GARDENS — An unidentified woman in her 20s was found dead on the corner of 142nd Road and 224th Street Wednesday, police said.
The victim was found at about 6:05 a.m. lying face-up and bleeding from the mouth, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The medical examiner was to determine the cause of death.
Jackson Heights victim dies from head injuries
JACKSON HEIGHTS —A man died Tuesday from injuries sustained three weeks ago when he was struck on the head with a blunt object, police said.
Edgar Garzon, 35, of Jackson Heights, was walking opposite 35-53 77th St. when an unidentified attacker came out of a red car and struck him, police said. The attacker fled with the wallet of the victim, who was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center in critical condition. He died at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The incident has been reclassified as a homicide and is being investigated as a possible bias incident.
Woman stabbed in head in Onderdonk Avenue attack
RIDGEWOOD — An 18-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck, shoulder and head by a man in his 20s at about 8:15 p.m.. Monday, police said.
The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center following the attack, which took place at 690 Onderdonk Ave., police said. The attacker fled the scene.
Information on the woman’s condition was not available by press time.
44-year-old man found dead indoors on Metropolitan Ave.
RIDGEWOOD — A 44-year-old man was found dead a few blocks from his home at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said.
Alfonso Anglisani, 44, of 79-23 69th Ave. in Ridgewood, was found dead inside 79-56 Metropolitan Ave., police said. The medical examiner is to determine the cause of death.
Muggers shoot man in foot on Jamaica Ave. near 88th St.
WOODHAVEN — A 39-year-old man was shot once in the foot on Jamaica Avenue near 88th Street early Saturday morning, police said.
The victim was accosted by three men who demanded money about 1 a.m. When he refused, one of them opened fire, police said.
The men fled. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
Telephone cables cut at 4 Astoria locations
ASTORIA — Cables at the base of telephone poles at four locations were cut Saturday morning, police said
Cables were cut at about 7 a.m. at 19-19 46th Street; at 41st Street and Astoria Boulevard at about 9:20 a.m.; at 40-08 Astoria Blvd. also at about 9:20; and at 42-12 Broadway at about 11:25 a.m., police said.
Details on whether phone service was affected were not available by press time.
Woman aboard ambulette dies in accident on LIE
REGO PARK — A United Cerebral Palsy ambulette struck a barrier on the westbound Long Island Expressway at Junction Boulevard Saturday afternoon, killing one of its passengers, police said.
The van was carrying three passengers when it crashed into the divider about 1 p.m. The three were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, police said.
Two remained in stable condition with minor injuries. The third passenger, Jane Thater, 51, died at Elmhurst Hospital several hours after the accident, police said.
The driver of the van refused medical attention, police said. Police did not report whether the driver was charged in the accident.
Man, 23, in critically injured after falling at 39th Ave. station
ASTORIA— A 23-year-old man was in critical condition after he fell into the path of a W train at the 39th Avenue station Saturday night, police said.
Authorities first thought the man jumped in front of the northbound train shortly after 10 p.m., but later determined that he had fallen.
He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center.
Teen stabbed in back on 45th St. in Astoria
ASTORIA — A 17-year-old male was stabbed in front of 30-78 45th St. Friday night, police said.
The victim was riding his bike about 9 p.m. when a group of men approached him and assaulted him, authorities said.
The teen suffered two stab wounds to the back and was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital in stable condition, police said.
The attackers fled.
34-year-old man found dead in 57th Avenue apartment
ELMHURST — A 34-year-old man was found dead at 94-25 57th Ave. Sunday afternoon, police said.
The death was discovered at 1:45 p.m. in apartment 3J.
The cause of death was to be determined by the medical examiner.
Arverne man, 29, arrested in stabbing of college dean
MANHATTAN — A Queens man and former student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice allegedly stabbed a dean at the college in the wrist and neck with a knife, police said.
Dabrium Jones, 29, of 146 Beach 59th St. in Arverne, was charged with second-degree assault after allegedly stabbing the 55-year-old dean during an argument at about 11 a.m. Aug. 29 in the third floor hallway of the college at 445 West 59th St. in Manhattan, police said.
The dean was taken to Roosevelt Hospital in stable condition. Jones was arrested and taken to St. Luke’s for a cut on his hand, police said.
