Jets 24, Giants 24. The Jets braved the elements, coming from behind to tie the game during Saturday’s torrential rainstorm. Lenny Saputo threw touchdown passes to Brian Durkan and Mike Buttafuco. Mike Manatrizzo ran for another TD. Interceptions by Justin Giryluk and Brian Durkan added to the Jets comeback. Chris Reilly and Ben Klein strengthened the defense.
Jets 32, Dolphins 31. Once again, the Jets rallied to battle back, this time for the win. Lenny Saputo threw touchdowns to Justin Giryluk, Brian Durkan and Mike Buttafuco. Mike Manatrizzo had an excellent running game and scored another TD for the Jets. Wesley Wong contributed to a strong defense. The Dolphins attempt for a two-point conversion for the win was foiled by Chris Reilly’s superb diving flag pull.
Jets 26, Patriots 12. In the battle for first place, the Jets prevailed with Wesley Wong catching two of Lenny Saputo’s four TD passes. The other two connected with Mike Buttafuco. With the score tied 12-12 at the half, the defense shut down the Patriots’ offense. Wesley Wong led this effort with two interceptions and other outstanding play by Justin Giryluk, Chris Reilly and Ben Klein.
Patriots 20, Broncos 6. It was a great win for the Patriots as they beat the Broncos’, 20-6. Justin Black, John Puccio and Joseph Nuss each scored a touchdown. Outstanding defense was played by Nicholas Hristis, Lucas Simonsky and Greg Polkowski.
Patriots 26, Giants 13. Conner Brewer threw for one touchdown and John Puccio scored two touchdowns. Justin Black and Joseph Nuss each scored a touchdown. Greg Abdallah, Michael Smorto and Dylan Eisencraft were outstanding on defense.
Patriots 18, Packers 14. Conner Brewer threw two TD passes, one to Justin Black and one to Greg Polkowski. Adding to the score was John Puccio, who ran for a TD. Outstanding on defense was Nicholas Hristis, Luke Simonsky and Greg Abdallah.
Senior League
After losing two of their first three games, the Giants have come storming back with victories against two of the leagues top teams, the Jets and Vikings. In doing so, they extended their winning streak to four games and are currently in first place with a 5-2 record.
Their explosive offense is led by quarterback Adam Mustafa, Frankie LoRiggio, Donald Gomer Max Bomser and Ray Kip. Defensive stars are Dewey Frechette, Steven Fielder, Mike Leon, Joe Wiley and George Koutsouras.
Coaches Frank LoRiggio and Abed Mustafa, whose squad won the championship last year, are adjusting, along with the eight other teams that make-up the Senior League (ages 12-14) to a major rule change this season which allows for one player to rush the quarterback on the snap from seven yards beyond the line of scrimmage.
